Surgical Center
In October of 2017 Dr. John Lee moved his offices and operating room from NW Portland to his new facility in Beaverton. A lot of planning, thought and care went into the build out to make our patients have the best experience as well as provide Dr. Lee with everything he needs to perform his surgeries at his optimal best. The operating room has gone through a rigorous inspection from AAAASF (American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc) and we have full accreditation. We pride ourselves on our perfect safety record and the personal care and attention we are able to give each patient. Dr Lee uses both IV sedation at our operating room and general anesthesia at an outside surgery center.
WHAT TYPE OF SEDATION DOES DR. LEE USE?
Many patients are concerned about whether or not they will feel any pain during surgery. The goal is for our patients to be as comfortable as possible and as safe as possible during the surgical procedure.
IV SEDATION / TWILIGHT SEDATION/CONSCIOUS SEDATION
Our onsite operating room is fully credentialed to administer Intravenous Sedation. This is done by our Certified Sedation Registered Nurse under the supervision of Dr. Lee. IV sedation. It is used for many of Dr. Lee’s surgeries including facelifts, necklifts, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), fat transfers to the face, otoplasty (ear pinning surgery), breast augmentation, and some breast implant transfers and breast implant exchanges depending on the case.
ADVANTAGE OF IV SEDATION / TWILIGHT SEDATION/CONSCIOUS SEDATION
With IV sedation the patient is put under a milder sedation than general anesthesia but just enough so that typically they sleep through the procedure, feel no pain and cannot remember what happened. If they do wake up they gently return to sleep after checking in. Patients are conscious enough that they are able to follow basic instruction and answer questions. There is no ventilator required so it is less dangerous and the recovery time to go home is faster.
GENERAL ANESTHESIA
There are some surgeries that Dr Lee requires for the patient to go under General Anesthesia. These are breast reduction surgeries, tummy tucks/abdominoplasty, Mommy makeovers (combined breast and tummy surgery), some breast implant removals and exchanges and rhinoplasty/nose surgery. Dr Lee also advises patients who have certain chronic medical conditions, underlying medical conditions or high anxiety patients to go under general anesthesia. As our operating room is not credentialed for General Anesthesia we use an outside surgery center connected to St Vincents Hospital and the anesthesia is administered by a licensed anesthesiologist.
ADVANTAGE OF GENERAL ANESTHESIA
Under General Anesthesia the patient will be unconscious so they will feel no pain and have no memory of the surgery. The patient will breath through a ventilator. There is a longer recovery time although the patient will still go home after surgery (no overnight stay).
All consultation appointments and pre and post visits are done at our facility.
