How does Scultpra work?

Sculptra Aesthetic is a well-tolerated and long-lasting treatment for the signs of facial aging. Collagen provides volume and gives shape to the face. It starts to breakdown around 30 years old resulting in a hollowing out of areas of the face.  Sculptra works to gradually replaces this lost collagen providing a foundation that gradually restores the look of youthful fullness.  Sculptra is injected into the areas of fat loss, wrinkles and folds in the face.  These areas include the cheeks, lines that run from the nose to the end of the mouth and lines that develop from the mouth down to the chin area. Great results can also be attained by injecting into the temple area which gets narrower as we age.  After treatment with Sculptra  results will gradually begin to appear. It is a subtle and gradual change and the results can last up to 2 years which is much longer than other types of injectibles and fillers.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an injectible that contains poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA. It is biocompatible, which means it will not harm your body. PLLA has been used for many years in dissolvable stitches and medical implants. It has been used cosmetically in Europe since 1999.

How many treatments are required?

Treatment is an injection to the targeted area. A topical anesthetic will used to numb the area. Typically Dr Lee will inject  2 - 3 times over a period of a couple of months. The amount needed varies with each individual. There may be some bruising and swelling at the injection site for a few days afterward but this can be easily disguised with makeup. Sculptra is a very affordable and effective anti- aging treatment.
