Portland Lip Augmentation

Why Lip Augmentation?

Lip augmentation is a procedure suitable for all ages. Younger people like the appearance of plumper lips and older people find they want to reverse thinning lips and lines that appear around the mouth due to ageing.  By adding volume to the lips using different materials they can become fuller and plumper resulting in a more youthful appearance. The upper or lower lip may be treated singly, or both upper and lower lips may be augmented at the same time.

What is Lip Augmentation?

Dr Lee chooses to use either the patient’s own fat or the fillers, Restylane or Juvaderm, to inject into the lips.

Dr Lee will take fat from one part of the body and inject it into the lips. One injection is usually sufficient to produce the desired result. There is some resulting bruising and swelling but the results are long lasting and by using a patient's own fat there will always be some fat that is retained forever. Dr Lee will often include complimentary fat injections to the lips for patients undergoing a face lift or neck lift to obtain optimal aesthetic results.

Restylane or Juvaderm injections are an alternative for many patients not wanting to undergo surgery. The lips are injected with restylane, there may be some swelling and bruising although it is usually minimal.  The results however are temporary.  Injections need to be repeated periodically for continuing results. (Approximately every 6 months to 1 year).
