How is Breast Reduction Surgery performed?
The breast reduction technique involves the removal of excess fat, glandular tissue and skin. There is an incision made around the areolar and the nipple which remains tethered to the original blood and nerve supply is repositioned. The areolar is usually also reduced. The underlying tissue is reduced, lifted and shaped.
Sutures are laid deep within the breast tissue to aid with supporting the new shaped breasts. There will be scars at the incision areas but these typically fade with time.
